[CRASH] Unable to Spectate

So I already know that you cannot spectate Coop vs AI games or Custom games where the host has limited the spectate options, or friends' games who don't want to be spectated, but I still have an issue.

I'm trying to spectate my friend's game (he's told me he hasn't blocked spectators from him) but every time I try to spectate the match the game client opens up and everything is just black with a Windows loading circle in where my mouse should be, and then the game client freezes and closes with a message popping up saying that I'm unable to spectate.

I thought it might just be with that friend, but when I tried to spectate one of my other friends it did the same thing. In addition to that, it will not let me spectate the ranked matches from the home screen (you know, the ones that cycle through at the bottom right) due to the same error.

Does anyone have a solution to this or know what might be causing it? I'd appreciate the help.
