Friend can no longer send invites

So this started yesterday. One of my friends, even after both of us have restarted the client and are online for each other, can not invite me to games. Instead one of our other friends has to invite me.

We think it happened because he messaged me while he was playing Legends of Runeterra, while I was on League, as it worked before and only broke after that.
