Fill is not a wide enough variety

i was in a premade queue last night with my friends, we had 3 of us with 2 specific roles a piece (but it was a good enough variety to queue up), then my fourth friend joins and picks mid/fill (mid already selected) and then we were told we didnt have enough variety, so my friend switched to mid/top and then somehow that increased our variety
