Ekko E while Rooted

I was playing Zyra, and at one point Ekko dashed with his E at the same time that I rooted him with E (this is fine as my roots hit in the middle of his dash), but after his dash ended he was rooted, but was still able to attack with the teleport despite being like 500 range away and my root duration was about 1.5.
