Screen froze and LoL was not responding

I recently entered a game, and during champ select, my screen froze. This happened before I picked a champion, with 70 seconds on the clock. After a couple minutes of waiting, I closed the client and opened it again, to find out I had been kicked for "dodging" because I was unable to select a champion. Because of this I had to wait 5 minutes before starting another game (which I have not started yet), and I fear that me "dodging" a queue like that puts me in jeopardy for being banned temporarily. Fortunately this was just an unranked blind pick game, but still I am concerned that an issue similar to this could happen again, and I could be banned for "dodging" the queue.
