unfair LP loss/gains?

After having a 60% overall winrate in ranked with over 100 games played, I was curious and somewhat frustrated as to why I wasn't moving up in ranked. So I decided to gather some data. I recorded my LP gains and losses for each game, and over 8 wins and 8 losses, I recorded an average LP gain per win of 15.25, and an average LP loss per loss of 20.25. At this rate, I would be losing LP, even at a winrate of 55-60%. I was curious as to why this is happening. I am not angry at the system, as I know there are calculations that are being done and specific reasons for each game's LP gains and losses, but I was wandering if anyone could help explain a reason it might be harder to gain LP.

LP gains and losses are calculated by comparing your MMR for the game in question to the "expected" MMR of your current rank. MMR gains and losses are static - in general, you gain as much on a win as you lose for a loss (there's actually some fairly complicated math that adjusts this based on the relative MMR of the teams, but that should balance over time).

In your case, your MMR is slightly lower than expected, so you have a small LP differential. As you maintain your 60% win-rate, your MMR will improve. As your MMR improves, that LP differential will vanish. In fact, it's possible for it to turn entirely around.
