Game crashed two hours ago, still can't log back in...

Yesterday (or the day before) I played 3/4 games in a row, and on the 4th game, I started lagging (and so did some others I think, but hard to tell) and then my game crashed. I couldn't log back in (as in, it would say "you left a game, would you like to rejoin") for about 45 minutes to an hour. Fortunately, the game didn't show up in my History, LP be saved. But today, it happened again. "The game has crashed, please try to reconnect to the game" this was about 2 hours ago that it crashed, but this time I'm sure it was happening to everyone, as when the lagging started I noticed others having problems just before I rebooted.

The same message still comes up if I quit league, and log back in, and when I try to reconnect it gives me some rubbish about a fire wall.

I can only assume, that the game booted everyone, but is still somehow ongoing. It crashed about 10 minutes in (and I was 3:0 about to get a fourth kill - I did but I'm not sure it registered before the crash as I lagged at the moment I landed the finishing blow) Because no one is playing, minions are trying to win the game, which, if left without Champions to speed things up, would mean the game would go on from an hour to two hours, maybe longer, I don't know, I haven't tested it.

Since this is the second time it's occurred in two days, and has never happened before, and it seems to be affecting others too, I can only assume that it's related to a recent patch or update, or has something to do with changes made in preparation to the next one.

Side note: both crashes occurred during a skirmish, this recent one was when Amumu ganked me top lane, I baited Gangplank in who wasted his ulti blocking my escape root, dodged amumu's q but was being hit by despair, my passive just triggered and I hit W to finish off Gankplank before intending to Q to escape Amumu's range. I mention this to give an idea of what was happening before the crash, though I doubt it's related.

I don't remember the scenario from the other crash game. I think I was Galio Mid and I just killed Katarina for the third time while the jungler was running towards me (though I was close to turret... come to think of it, in both games) but again, i doubt it's related, but thought it might help to know.
