This is working as intended. Since you can sort of choose where the axes land there's not really any excuse for intentionally standing still in the middle of a minion wave and then be able to expect to catch axes.
Draven oo71 votesits not working, i just went in afight between a voli bear, had 2 spinning axe, i thru one caught it, and the other axe disappeard EVEN though I never AA, its not working as intended

Draven oo71 voteshave two axes, thru one at enemy champion, do it 100 times, i gurantee 20-30 of those times done it will be a weird lag jerk, youll see marker, stand over it, but it will not catch, and your cool down is reset
Declined1 votesCould be something as simple as your connection causing you to cancel your auto attacks.
Otherwise you wouldn't be able to juggle axes at all.
Draven oo71 votesplaying ethernet- on alienare 14 nothing else running, and the bug is still happening, it's a patch thing that a Riot feels like to not respond, this is really ruining my DPS to have 2 axes spinning then both mysterious disappear when i catch one, and SEE catching animation
Draven oo71 votesI mean every time i play draven i feel a burning anger when i get flamed for losing 1v1 like chill, it be different if i couldnt hold a mouse over an axe, but it's LEGIT bug and not just me, kled and others have patch bugs that most games hotfix in a day, WHY it takes this game months is beyond me, good thing this game is free.

brainmain1 votesbump: as he said, at 8:26 in the video of Tyler1 (for instance), he's standing in the catching radius, and the indicator even lights up as if he caught the axe, but he is no longer spinning said axe. This has happened to me across several skins. I'm standing in the catch location with the marker/indicator, it then lights up when the axe lands, but it does not reset the spin for one of the axes, and I have effectively lost a spinning axe thereby necessitating the use of mana to begin another q. it's a minor bug, but it adds up.
