Spell Vamp not Healing

I just finished a game as Rumble and when looking at stats after the game it says I did 0 healing. I bought my spell vamp starter item very early in the game and it says 0. Is this a glitch? Yes I was low enough to heal on many occasions. I've noticed this in other games as well not seeing heals until I have the entire item completed.
