W's passive states that "every 5 attacks, Kennen will deal additional x% of his AD as magic damage". With Runaan, however, you instantly gain stacks equal to the amount of targets hit, instead of a counter building up depending on the amount of times you attack. The wording of the passive makes me think it's intended to stack depending on the amount of times you attack, not the amount of targets you hit.
Idly, Kennen is listed as a Marksman. Is that correct?
The same principle applies to Caitlyn's passive. She gets stacks based on the amount of targets hit.
Kennen's W passive is supposedly an on-hit, and Runaan's procs on-hits with the bolts.
Same goes for other supposed on-hits from Twisted Fate, Ashe, or Teemo.
It's more an an enhanced auto so it wont really act with "on hit"stuff. That would be like devourers effecting Nasus' Q (which would instakill people if that was the case) or shyvana's Q which would make her hit 4 autos instead of 2 which doesn't happen. I dont know if runaans would do anything for Kennen's passive, as for a sated devourer, the real "on hit" effect is getting the stacks themselves so it would reduce the amount of autos it took to activate the passive. Think of Gnar, Vayne, Tamh Kench. Each of them needs 3 stacks to activate passive and with sated devourer it only takes 2 ( 1 from first auto 2 stacks from 2nd auto triggering the passive)
