[Gameplay] Syndra R dead target script change bugs

Hello,

In version 7.7, this was released:

  • Bug Fix: If Syndra's target dies mid-cast, remaining nearby Dark Spheres will continue to pummel their corpse.
  • Bug Fix: If Syndra's target becomes untargetable during Unleashed Power, Dark Spheres that were in-flight now drop in place rather than disappearing entirely.

However, it does not work as intended. The specific break occurs during Syndra's R wind up animation (when spheres are being drawn into her). If the target dies during then, she does not fire any of her spheres, and all spheres drawn in cease to exist completely. This effect can also break her ultimate against any Untargetable enemies (e.g, Zhonya's).

Her ultimate, if it is actually firing spheres, appears to send them to dead corpses 'usually' but not always. I'm unable to make this happen consistently but I suspect the above may be influencing its erratic behavior.

This is a pretty consistent bug.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create Dark Spheres (5 is usually good, more can be noticeable).
  • Fire her ultimate at an enemy Champion that also then dies. I'd say she hits R, then the enemy just instantly dies, as that should be fast enough to consistently break her wind up animation.
  • If successful, drawn in spheres disappear and her ultimate goes on cooldown rather than resetting.
