Group lag on both teams, simultaneously, yet the service status is 'online?'

I was just spectating a game where people were, en masse, getting kicked out of the game and then reconnecting at once. In the /all chat, you can also see that everyone was confused and trying to scramble to make any sense of it.

After checking to see if there was lag on the main site, I'm told the service status is a-OK? The hell's going on?

(And yes, I have it recorded as a highlight and can upload/send it if needed, but I don't know how to right off the bat.)
