Bug Splat during game loading = 20 min AFK Buster
Hello Riot,
I have yet again experienced what ultimately put me in Leave Buster prison for the better part of last year and this one. While the game was on the loading screen the status loop in the bottom right hand corner continued to spin until every player showed 100% and my mouse icon turned into the in-game pointer. However the game itself never launched for me. Instead it crashed out and the Bug Splat program started to bounce on my dock; yes, I am in the minority of players that are on Macs.
The real pain in the ass began then though as the bug splat would not respond and needed to be force quit. In addition, by the time the reconnect went through the game was already over, resulting in being labeled an AFK and being penalized by LP and Leavebuster status.
While I completely understand that the Leavebuster system is in place to protect players, in instances like this I feel it hinders them. How was I supposed to know prior to launch of the game that I would get bug splatted? Secondly, how can I even begin to troubleshoot the problem if I don't know where to begin. For instance, there is nothing on the boards that I can find that highlight what happened during my launch sequence and the bug splat was uselessly "not responding".
My previous AFKs in games last year fully deserved to be penalized. I had emergencies I couldn't avoid and therefore had to leave the game. Having said that, I don't feel that technical issues like this should be held against me. Clearly if the Bugsplat came up then there is something in the client that isn't working properly, not my own actions of being an AFK. FYI, when it said I was on an Leavebuster post match it labeled it as 5min only, not a new set of 20 minute LBs.
Can you please look into a system that compensates for this type of an issue before administering a penalty? I love your game and want to keep playing it but right now this feels like an early, unfunny April Fools joke.
Thanks.
