Losing connection one time permanently causes strange behavior in both client and patcher.
Cause of problem: Ethernet cable came lose while client was connecting to an imminent match. Got this error. https://imgur.com/99bL2nV
Steps taken to attempt to resolve:
- Plugged ethernet cable back in, closed League patcher (because sometimes it refuses to reconnect to a game unless you close the patcher too).
- Restart the patcher, successfully log in. Client starts loading and immediately gives me https://imgur.com/99bL2nV again.
- Close client, close patcher, use Task Manager to completely close both.
- Re-opened client, logged in successfully, immediate fail upon loading client again.
- Restart again and the patcher gives me this: https://imgur.com/f1rhl69
No LeaverBuster penalty, thankfully. Since I was able to log in to the patcher, I am certain I had successfully resolved the problem with my internet by the time I attempted to rejoin the game. Why does the client refuse to reconnect with a perfectly good connection? Even the patcher is behaving strangely (see third link) now!
As a side note: why does the game refuse to switch connections during a match? Suppose you're playing on WiFi, and you plug in your Ethernet cable, then disable your network adapter so the only connection available is the wired one. The client should lose connection, then switch over to your Ethernet connection, and restore the connection to Riot's server. Instead, it refuses to reconnect to the match at all until you turn your WiFi back on. This is bad design.
