stuck in champ select with black screen?

first time this ever happened. queued up with 2 friends. we were all stuck on a black screen in champ select for 4 or 5 minutes. we thought staying on the screen would dodge the game, but nope. even when i logged out, they were still on champ select black screen. wtf is this lol
