When you attack a unit in Human form and then quickly change to spider form, you basically get a ranged attack in her spider form. This applies the magic damage on hit from the passive of her spider form as well.

Also, that is an odd bug, maybe I'll test it out later.

Yeah, she does that. Last I saw, Kayle can do that when her ranged attack runs out of duration, and I'm guessing others do, too. I don't know how easy it is to replicate, but I haven't bothered to master it. Not that gamebreaking, IMO.
