unbalanced unranked player count in ranked

How is it possible that the matchmaker is making games where there are unbalacned numbers of unranked players on the two teams. We just had two unranked players. Enemy team had zero unranked players. They stomped us. Or I should say matchmaking stomped us. Big surprise. How is that fair or fun or anything except an example of matchmaker broken ness?
