Nether Grasp failing to apply Suppress

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me this week. Ekko runs at me. I hit R. The animation starts, the damage hits a tick, then Ekko proceeds to roll and kill me somehow. The Suppress on Nether Grasp has something like a .25-.5 second delay behind the animation and actual damage.
