After the game that I got level 5 mastery on Yasuo I got an S rating and was awarded a token. The game right after I got an S- rating and was awarded another token. When I went to go unlock level 6 I only had one token. A token has seemed to have wondered away in the wind. Why tease me Riot?

The first popup was either 1: bugged and told you got a token when it should have showed the other popup. 2: showed the correct other popup, telling you HOW to earn tokens, but was misread.
Either way, that first game was not eligible for a mastery token to begin with. You must get the S- or better mastery rating on a champion you have level 5 mastery on. Since you only had mastery 4 for that game, and only got 5 after it's completion, mastery tokens were not available from that game.
