Jhin's Captive Audience deals damage under Elise's Rappel

Hello,

I posted this in Gameplay since I'm not sure if it is a bug. It appears to be something that's programmed into Jhin's ability but doesn't make sense while interacting with Elise's Rappel.

I recently ran into a match when Jhin's Captive Audience proc'ed before it exploded, then by instinct as Elise, I rappelled. Even though I thought it would make Elise untargetable, it still killed me when I was up in the air and the flower exploded. Jhin's ability is not something like Tristana's Explosive Charge, where the object attaches to the enemy, but it is a distinct object that appears to deal damage when someone is within its space.

Is this a bug? Or is this something Riot will keep, or is unaware of? It seems to defeat the purpose of Elise's counterplay mechanics against Jhin.
