Possible In-Game Exploit

In a ranked game just played I suddenly lagged out even before laning had started. I received the "attempting to reconnect" message, and a few seconds later the problem subsided. Right as I lagged the opposing team was invading. They were able to secure an early kill, and while I didn't die, I was unable to react to help. A very unlucky situation indeed... Or so I thought.

A few minutes into laning the lag suddenly returned, and once again quickly went away. Strangely enough, the enemy team was again grouping and ganking right at that moment. How strange.. To get lag at that exact moment... again...

**By the end of the game it was quite obvious what was going on. I was able to predict every time the enemy team was making a move because I would lag right at that moment, and either be late to the fight, or suddenly surrounded by enemies. **

Perhaps this particular exploit is already known, but if not I am reporting it here. As I said, this was in ranked. If I come across it again will probably stop playing League all together until it is fixed. Not because I am angry with Riot Games in any way, but the game will simply be unenjoyable.

Hope this can be addressed, thank you.

Edit:

So I've been playing more games (normal, not ranked) and there is definitely something going on, but can't be certain it's any individual player causing it. Seems that when certain enemies become visible there is this sudden massive spike of latency. Obviously exactly what is causing this is unknown.

I got home yesterday evening, ran the launcher, the game patched, and then these issues started. It may be some unintended bug was included in the most recent update. This would be a much better alternative then player controllable exploits.

yeah drop hack and to the people who say no its your comp and they cant target one game is lying and probably ddos themselves those people will get karma so yea in life they better watch out cause something not good is going to happen and don't blame someone else for your actions SORE LOSERS so sad.......

Sweetiex10/23/2015, 1:25:46 PM9 votes

It's Ddos. Had it happen to me once. My whole team would "lag" every time a team fight happened or when the enemy team went for dragon/baron.

It was pretty obvious. Sudden lag = Someone in my team died or dragon/baron was done after the lag was gone.

Edit: It was the enemy ADC doing it. When the enemy adc was involved in any fight, everyone in my team would lag. Not when our mid and the enemy mid fought or anything like that.

Drophacking. It's goddamn stupid shit that ruins games extremely easily. Yeah I just "lagged" during that teamfight, and somehow my internet works completely fine after I died. Interesting coincidence that it happens everytime a teamfight is going down.

Riot needs to permaban these shitlords.

This happened for me too.

A few days ago alrdy.

Suddendly my ping got from 16 (what it is like normally like) became 400+, a little much to play lol. Even tough this happened too while enemy was doing an action. But some of my teammates had the same problem, had to leave and rejoin the game to fix this about 3 times.

I think it is the server tho. Normally getting fixed way faster in NA than EUW, but i rly hope it is gonna be fixed.

Just had this issue in game as well, may i ask what champions were in the game? for me it was like this

my team: myself asShen Jinx DrMundo Akali Hecarim

Enemy team: TahmKench Thresh Vayne Katarina Aatrox

For me the lag was most common during massive team fights, but would occur in 2 v 2 bot lane skirmishes as well.

edit: interesting it seems that all of us played with a shen in our games without exception, maybe the problem is shen himself?

TheHypeGoku10/23/2015, 7:14:54 PM3 votes

Lol not a DDOs or drop hack. People are so uneducated on this. Basically between you and the riot servers, packets of data have to be transferred through each interactions. When the enemy team groups up, that just means Riot servers are having to send more packets of data to you and your computer/internet is unable to collect all of it instantly so you experience lag. This is on your side, not on Riot's side.

Vikíng10/23/2015, 6:59:24 PM3 votes

This is some stupid fucking hack called "drophacking." It's where one person can make an entire team lag out.

Ipols10/23/2015, 11:26:00 AM2 votes

I don't know if it was caused by the enemy team, but I play via ethernet and during my games it can happen that my ping goes to 1k for a few seconds, unluckyly I don't play many different games to check if this happens only in LoL or not

ChaosReignsDown10/23/2015, 1:35:11 PM2 votes

Yep, had a Morde that every time he would get around anyone on my team, we would lag so bad that we would be dead before we could react to anything. It was only when he was there. Had team fights with him in a different lane.. all was good, but the second he came in BAM, 3000ms/5fps.

Indorfin10/23/2015, 4:25:02 PM2 votes

I think there may be server problems going on. Myself and other members of my team would all get "attempting to reconnect" at the same time in small bursts. This even happened in a custom game with myself and a friend; we'd lag at EXACTLY the same time, despite me having a 26ms connection otherwise.

DDos

Malicious Fury10/23/2015, 5:08:54 PM2 votes

Not an exploit. Nobody can target one specific game out of millions.

okino10/23/2015, 5:57:21 PM2 votes

That seems serious +1

Here's a more reasonable explanation: when people group up to fight more stuff happens; more spells are cast, more people get hit, people get more excited and spam more move commands. All of this has to be communicated between the server and every client. It's possible that some events are generating more network traffic than they should, and Riot should definitely look into that. It's also possible that you just have a slow (but reliable) connection, and when things heat up in game, your connection can't quite keep up. In any case, you could send your game logs to riot to help them identify the problem. (There should be a support article that says how to do that)

Robert Smith10/23/2015, 2:29:41 PM1 votes

Might just be your computer not being able to process fast enough causing you to lag. Something like a corrupted file or to much visual info on screen.

Troll for Trump10/23/2015, 8:22:04 PM1 votes

I have been lagging a lot recently... and no my FPS was stable preserver move, and my FPS is 120 apx. Might be packet loss, although they reduced it. Assuming the packet loss was truly reduced, I assume it is DDoS

Also, anyone get why, when you join a game, you sometimes crash, and it says"You've disconnected from the server, retry" and it does this amillion times, and you get back and minions have spawned?

Cashlaundry10/23/2015, 8:27:33 PM1 votes

Same but instead of lag spikes it's even worse. Game totally crashes AND won't relaunch. I have to shutdown and reboot before I can get back in game. In 5 games yesterday it happened to 6 people on my team and in 1 game today it happened to me and a teammate. Game breaking bug.

Drugoth10/23/2015, 9:09:14 PM1 votes

I've encountered this exact same scenario in the past and it always seemed the lag always only negatively effected me or my team mates. At first I thought it was just coincidence until it started happening more and more.

Also my Internet connection is extremely stable 24/7 when playing any other game online.

The real question is: if people are really willing to cheat to this extent just to win a video game what is our world coming to? How can even the cheater be having fun when he takes all the challenge out of the game?

Pretty sure its a packet loss issue, could be a DDoS issue or a server communication issue. I have had this same thing happen to me during several games (I am on the west coast) and when I lane against certain people my interactions with them are really laggy. But if I play another game after that - the connection is better.

Personally, I think Riot is still having some server calibration issues.

Vellich0r10/24/2015, 2:44:53 AM1 votes

shoot, I had a bug where I disconnected mid match, and then the game let me play a different game, so I was in two games at the same time.

Guy Fox Teemo10/24/2015, 5:22:55 AM1 votes

You probably got DDOS'd

Im DA Threshest10/24/2015, 8:53:34 AM1 votes

This has happened to me also. Every time I got close to ganking top lane id get brief lag it really didn't feel like normal lagging. It happened as soon as I got close to this Malphite.

Kaipop10/24/2015, 5:08:20 PM1 votes

Kept happening to me everytime anyone from enemy team showed up, or maybe just Orianna. Not sure.

warpenguin55510/24/2015, 5:16:45 PM1 votes

im getting this sometimes too. more of a lag spike than dcing though

CookieKitKat10/26/2015, 6:30:19 AM1 votes

Been happening to me too. I would get in game, it would be fine, and then around the time the minions spawn I get 6k ping. I have around 110 ping normally. It's happened pretty consistently lately. It happened to me before but not this much.

1 Game: (Normal) I played: Katarina No Shen was in this game.

2 Game: (Ranked) I played:Alistar A Shen was in this game. ^ this game the enemy Caitlyn said she was lagging not sure if it was because of this.

3 Game: (Ranked) I played: Morgana A Shen was in this game. ^ this game some of my teammates said they were lagging.

EDIT: I thought it just happened when a lot of other champions appeared, but happened throughout laning phase even though it was just me and my enemy laner.

EDIT: Also seems to happen only at night.

Awkward Couch10/28/2015, 3:18:58 PM1 votes

It could be either a drop hack or it could be your computer. I know that other people have been having ping spikes in league after 5.20. Are you playing on a laptop? Does the same problems persist when you play a bot game?
