The new TFT has one big problem

GG i only Juke··2 votes·1,828 views

i know that all the new changes in TFT is still on the PBE. that's why im writing this so Riot maybe can fix this. The problem with all these new and cool champions is that it's so rare to get the same ones. i saw 1 lvl 3 in a entire game of TFT. one. Riot could maybe fix this by adding another shop slot? that's the best idea i could think of. otherwise i think the champs and roles look very cool and fun, it adds more opportunity to the game. am i the only one who feel like this?

Maybe they could add the option to buy another of a champ that you already own for a large sum of gold? Like if they charge 2 gold for random rerolls or like 20-50 gold to straight up purchase a champ you need.

There's already too much RNG in TFT and it sucks that some people just get lucky and end up with 2 or more 3 star champs when others can't get 1. We need some agency.

3☆ champs are supposed to be a rare occurrence, and not to be seen in every game.

They are trying to correct player's mind set with the expectation of getting 3☆s in set2.

Yeah, no more 3 star Garen steamrolling every game ^^. They were supposed to be rare and it was pretty disgusting how many people could get 3 star champs and 2 star Tier 5 champs, just because they were luck at the rerolls. Now you will actually need to think about the placements and the synergies as it should be.

While luck is part of the formula to get a 3☆T1~T3 champs, 2☆ T5s are less luck reliant, and more about strategy and future planning.

You can tell me that it isn't luck reliant and it's more about future planning and strategy, because I give you that you need to amass a lot of gold, but you will need to spend them at rerolls at lv7-8 if you want to have 2 star T5s, but it's still rerolls. It is still left to chance whether you will be able to get 3 copies of the same champion. It is possible you will be able to get only 2 copies and not more.

No, this needs to go away from the game. Many times you are punished if you put a one star champion on the board, because 2 Star Tier 1 champs can wreck them and it's absurd that lower tiers can do better than higher tiers just because it is easier to level them up.

Sure, it's RNG. The question is how to manipulate towards your favor.

  • Do you roll at lvl 7? 8? 9?
  • Are you rolling before your opponents or after there is already three 1☆ of that T5 unit in the game?
  • Can you afford to wait to roll at lvl 8 while you are already at low health cos you've been econning while others have already rolled their gold to get those two 3☆ T1s? or do you have to spend half of your gold now to get to lvl 8 now to get better chances of rolling that T5?
  • Are you waiting for that last carosel item before you roll to identify which T5 champ to focus on?
  • Are you observing other people's board to make use of the other T5 units already on their board?
  • Do you know your chances of being able to get that T5 unit to 2☆ and do you have the gold for it?

You and I are both plat4 TFT players, you should know better that there are things you can do to skew RNG to your favor. Can't just blame it all on RNG.

I'd say a 2☆T1 can beat some 1☆T4 on a 1v1 with the same items, but it's highly unlikely that a 2☆T1 can beat a 1☆T5. Think Trist2 VS Jinx1, Jinx needs time to scale so if she has no front line, then she'll lose against Trist, but a Kaisa1 won't lose to a Vayne2.

I'm not blaming everything on RNG. If you want to have a consistent build, then you are bound to do rerolls during the game, because getting that far sort of requires you to stay in game. You can amass a lot of gold through lose streak as well, but you don't want to bring yourself down to such critical hitpoints, when one bad matchup can cost you the game, even though you beat 6 out of 7. All in all it's usually the one abusing the latest broken builds who is the first, because he can amass so much advantage that it's going to be close to impossible to compete with him. All you can do is go for other things, in which case the RNG can be a huge middle finger.

You can observe others, you don't know how the pool actually looks like, how champions are distributed. You might believe that you can do a 2 star Kayle, because you have 2 and one guy already has one, but it is possible that the pool only had 5 copies.

I'm looking forward to the next set, because this one is just way too broken and too many things are left to chance.

And it isn't Blitzcrank itself who is the RNG element, because his hooks are predictable, but the thing is you don't know who you will play against and adjusting your board. This forces you to play around Blitzcrank, in which case you will lose to others, because e.g you might have to use a frontline champ as bait, which will weaken your frontline, and you will lose against comps, which require such.

Many of the new champions have 5 gold cost, meaning that you coul never count on them for your team composition.

That's intentional

They reduced every champion pool to force people to either use a variety of units or be penalized

I have posted this before also.. One (room for 2 actually) slot would help a lot w/ the influx of champs they are releasing. Many games, no matter who is not building said champ, I don't see any of them.. I think this is because there are just too many dang champs. A slot or two would at least help give a better chance to see something through 20 re rolls..
