Reconnecting at start of game

Okay so every time I try to play a team fight tactics match my client loads the little loading screen fine, but when it gets into the actual game I'm just stuck looking at a blank 'nexus' the thing where you pick your first champ and after a minute it says reconnecting. Then by the time it's fixed I'm on my board with a random pick. Basically everytime I load in it wont let me pick my first champ and I get stuck with the leftovers. Any help? I really want a choice on my first champ cause that could really help the course of my games but I never get one.
