I've been consistently getting top four, mostly 2-3 but a couple firsts and I have been climbing in rank. Once I hit plat I started gaining at max 30 lp for a first place, but if i get 6th I lose 30. How is this proper? How am I supposed to climb if a win is 30 and a potential last place is like a 60 lp loss. Keep in mind I have only been climbing, started at Iron.
Everyone has been climbing since Iron, it's the first season of the gamemode broseph.
Seeing as you've climbed up to plat, you must have a decent average finishing position. And you've got to MAINTAIN that momentum to keep moving up, hence the LP punishment for losses. This isn't PUBG, meaning that the leaderboards and entire ranking system aren't based solely on the number of games played.
If we all gained 80 LP per win but lost only 5 LP for 8th place, we'd all be in Challenger rank by now.
Yeah, it can be a harsh one. I gained about 6-8 points for getting in 4th while I'm in plat (was even Plat 1 and hard fell to Plat IV). Can lose anywhere from 60-80 points in 8th. That's just the way it is though, used to get 100+ for getting a first place in Iron afterall. It just gets worse the higher we get.
