Same round eliminations

I feel like the game just decides I lose when I get eliminated in the same round as someone else. Can someone answer with 100% surety how placement is determined, it's got to be either whoever survives longer in the round (including animation time for Little Legend damage to travel) places higher OR, whomever HAD higher health at the start of the round gets the higher placement. I'm ripping my hair out because I cant figure it out because I feel like when I survive longer I lose, and if I was healthier I still lose... but I could also just be neurotic ^_^
