I'm new to this game (never played LoL, but i like this much) and yet i see a handful of design and technical issues that are never explained and then suddenly fixed. I see everyone saying 'Welcome to Riot' as the typical answer, so probably complaining and reporting is a drop in the ocean.
I agree the LP gain is really messed up, for a number of reasons:
- There's no reason to hide how it works. Players will appreciate and probably complain less if there's more transparency.
- Whoever thought "if you're paired with weakest players, you should win":
• probably was guessing that you're paired with plants and not with humans
• probably never lost 30 minutes gaining 15 LP for placing first
• probably never lost 30 minutes LOSING 30 LP FOR PLACING 4th
- Pairing a player with lesser ranked opponents and penalize him/her for that feels really horrible. I mean, if I win I get few LPs; if I lose it's a complete disaster. The chance to gain something is really low, if you combine it with the actual struggle to beat 6-7 players (I repeat, they're NOT PLANTS... ok maybe 1 or 2 could be) and the actual time spent, that's always to be considered for the majority of players
- Small technical issues can ruin your game, but bugs are acceptable (losing LP because of a bug could be okay)
- Big technical issues (connection, launcher) can ruin your entire day (losing MANY LP and 30-40 mins of inactivity IS NEVER OKAY)
As Hytyrant said, the last reason is definitely the unbalanced W/L ratio. I discuss it separately because it's a more subjective than absolute topic (those above can be considered facts instead). Everything depends on how much Riot wants this game to be difficult to climb, I mean, if it's hard to climb that is for everyone, so there should be nothing to complain about.
Just to say: The game is really good and I think it's a waste to see passionate players drop it because they can't afford a >66% winrate (getting 8th wastes TWO entire 1st places) to climb. And there's NOTHING to do except climbing, so i would definitely listen more to my users' complaints, even if this point is actually balanced (well, it's hard for everyone)
