First Time on the TFT Boards! Thoughts on Patch 9.24 (Could Be My Favorite Yet) - Dec 11
So I decided to veer away from Reddit and a few sites I like for TFT related conversations, articles, guides, ect. and figured I'd give this place a shot! The entire TFT page is people just RANTING and being PISSED because I'm assuming they're just not adapting well to whatever is causing them to lose (I barely read through the titles before I was annoyed). I've seen lots of "this is stupid" or "I can't believe this wasn't nerfed" "Another 4 weeks of" this and that...
Last patch was so much fun, it was definitely IMO the best and most balanced meta yet (I know a lot of people don't agree with me on this). There were so many different ways to win games instead of just the one dominant leader for a full 2-4 weeks (Yes, I know Ocean Mages were very strong at first, the high cost Singed/Zed Assassin Summoners were a clear winner late in the patch, even though that comp itself had many different variations with ocean/mystic/cloud/electric/warden potentially being added into the mix, and I never had a problem beating the eggroll comps unless they got incredibly lucky), I constantly saw interesting comps getting first and second place, comps that you know weren't just ripped from Mobalytics or tftactics but unique comps that worked well in the specific game it was in.
I'm pumped for the next 4 weeks. I've been playing TFT since the patch dropped, just learning and trying out as much as I can. I have yet to find a soulbound comp that can get above 3rd (I still have faith in a shadow variation, just haven't gotten it there yet) and I have yet to go for a full Inferno comp but I hear it's kickass. I went 4 Desert for science today and found out it's pretty worthless once you're nearing the end of the mid-game, but Renekton and Kha'Zix are both still highly tuned. My most epic game today (18 round streak then I only lost two rounds before recovering) consisted of a pretty interesting comp: Assassins, Predators, Steel, Chrystal, Mountain, and I believe just a sprig of Wardon. Actually it was my first game of the set I've used Taric and got to see him in action. These odd comps that I'd never think of while not in front of the game tend to be the most fun, the ones that work so well in the moment because it was created and tweaked based on the specific comps your facing.
I've been watching a lot of streamers on Twitch above Plat rank and for the most part they're kinda just doing what they did last patch so far but I'm hoping to see the top tier meta change pretty soon as well...maybe I've just been watching the wrong guys too. Just switched over to Scarra, he turned the stream on and said "TIME FOR THE EGGROLL". Then stomped with glacial berserkers. I'm seeing a huge influx in Light players, but not as many Nocturne BotRK comps as everyone on Reddit thought there were going to be I tried twice today, the second time I hit Nocturne 3 way too easy (I was incredibly lucky), Nocturne and his rageblade took me to victory without losing another round. I've also noticed a lot more people going full comps on certain classes or origins I never saw people go for last patch (6 Glacial, 6 Berserker, 6 Shadow, ect). I find myself ditching the early-game Woodland Druid pieces a little sooner than I used to. I don't think I can notice the nerfs on Ivern and Maokai necessarily but I think things are moving quickly in late-early and early-mid game right now, maybe people are rolling more to beat other players going for the same comp? Who knows.
That's it! I really didn't have anything very specific to get into heading in here, just took a look at all the negativity on here and wanted to contribute something that wasn't complaining on this board. I'm off to try and win a game with Soulbond, maybe 6 inferno, and maybe I'll rank closer to the Diamond I left off at in Set 1.
Feel free to send me a message if you're looking for someone to lobby with. Otherwise I'd love to read your feelings on the comp so far, what's working? what changes have you noticed? What comps are you excited about?
