LP Loss/Gain in TFT

[English not my 1st language]

I'm in my other account (plat 1) and had 81 LP. I was about to finish 4th-5th but I wrongly replaced a minion on my board (dumb he he). I ended up dying and placing 8th (game was so tight, all are within 16-30 HPs).

And guess what, back to 0 LP lmao. I mean can it be a function of at least your quality/performance in that particular game? e.g.

() If its a stomp (like 1st place is 80 hp and you're 0 hp, 8th place), you deserve to lose more LP. () But if game was so close (1st place is about 30 LP), we should lose not much LP.

I feel like its an insult to players who are relatively or actually good but still at the unfavorable side of RNG...

I don't know. I hope Riot would seriously think about this.

it depends on mmr, you don't belong to your ranking so you gain less and lose more

why am I still reading comments like this? are you in silver? There are constantly player asking this kind of question. And there's always someone to comment it's bc of their mmr. While MMR does have some effect on one's LP loss/gain, in upper league it's widely known fact that players tend to lose significantly more LP for losing a game than gaining LP when winning. everyone knows tft has problematic lp gain/loss system. I am in Diamond3 and I generally get d2-d3 players in my lobby(I search them during loading). If my MMR is too low for D3, I would prob get more plat players in my lobby. I gain 32lp for getting 1st place and lose 60lp for getting 8th place, so do all my friends in diamond. So according to your MMR theory maybe all of us don't belong to our ranking. I hope we just get demoted to the rank we belong to instead of suffering ridiculous 80lp loss.

totally agree. I have two accounts, one in D4 another one recently got demoted to P1. Both accounts experienced the same issue which you point out. There was one time I was doing really good, in 9 games I got 1st place 6 times and the other 3 games were all in top 3, so theoretically speaking at that point my MMR should be higher than my actual rank, right? However, the 10th game I got 4th place, and I lost LP! Can you believe it XD

I know how it feels man, once I got demoted after getting 4th place in one game I was like wtf did you queue with someone who was significantly below your rank? if you are solo queueing as diamond IV on NA server I think it's unlikely to lose LP getting 4th place. It only happens when you are queueing with someone at lower rank or your rank is very high and the system cant match you with players at your mmr level.

Your suggestion punishes lose-streakers and open forters, which are two legitimate strategies that should not be discouraged to keep the game diverse.

Hello, could you please explain to me this? Because this is a good point. Sorry I'm not good much with english.

he's trying to point that there are players who intentionally loses hp to save money/get better carousel champion/item picks etc. so let's pretend there's a player who forces noble, so he would intentionally lose health to get first pick in the carousel before raptors hoping to get a kayle, however after he got the kayle, he only has like 20hp to work with. Maybe he got like 4 win streaks and one round his carry got phantomed/hexteched and he loses the game when everyone else still have 40+ hp. According to your suggestion he needs to lose a lot of LP, however that might not be very fair for him, bc his 6 noble team might have a decent chance fighting against top 4 players, just he lost too much hp early on and got unlucky. It would be fair to for him to lose (like 60)lp for taking such risky strategy. However according to your suggestion if by the time he got eliminated, everyone else in the lobby still has high hp, he needs to lose extra lp. That might piss off players like him.

Open fort and lose streak = people who intentionaly lose in stage 2 so that they get first pick on the first 2 carousels and the lose streak gold

You sell all of your champions and just econ.

Because of that, you'll have lower HP than other players, and that is the intended result of trading HP for gold+item picks. But under your suggested LP gain system, they would be punished because they'd lose more LP and gain less.

Thank you! My main is Dia 3 at 38% wr (1st places). I never experienced the 80+ LP loss for an 8th place before so for my Plat 1 acct it was strange for me to lose so much LP,

I am not angry, just weird this happened.
