Can the opponents you fight not be the same person 7 times in a row

Just had a game of tft, where it was down to the last 3 of us. Me and someone else were pretty even in both remaining hp, and in team comp, while the last team, while building up potential, was at the point where they couldn't beat the other 2, nor had the health to sustain more then one loss. Next thing we know, me and the other person in the lead vs each other 7 times in a row, while the last guy got to fight a false army every time (where the false armies don't get any of the synergy buffs). This steamrolled him into a victory, as not only did they get 1st pick in 2 carousels, but they also were given not only a winstreak and gold, but also the time to build up their team, until they outright won out.

While I'm not against the occasional back to back matches (especially when there is only 3 people left), but for them to enjoy 7 in a row, when they were dead to rights, is very frustrating. For me it seems like it would be better if you could only fight someone X times in a row, or make it so the false teams get their synergies.
