Ranked Exploitation - Factually Occurring
There is a simplistic way to drastically alter the odds of your ranked climb that involves two specific methods, and has been de facto observed by a fairly significant portion of the playerbase, even if they didn't realize it was occurring right under their nose.
The problem is twofold, and both are enabled by Riot's failure to limit TFT ranked play to Solo-only. This really was braindead obvious, which of course meant Riot would overlook it. (No surprise there.)

Simply play with friends, but make it their duty to help you climb, to which you will log one of your many alts and pay the favor back later. Intentionally throw early to remove optimal picks and items from carousel by simply looking at the other players boards. In this way you simply remove the likelihood they will top-4 place by minimizing their champ pool drastically, as well as ensuring poor itemization.

Simply do the same as above, but with a sock account (or 4) on your portable device(s). The slow rate of TFT gameplay, and how gameplay is stepped makes managing multiple accounts over several portable devices a breeze and allows a single player to isolate and target solo players for easy reduction in potential win, again, via items and deck digs.
What you will notice, if you pay any attention whatsoever, is a player intentionally pulling several different people's champions by deep-digging the deck because they do not care about gold investment, and also using their bottom-placement status to prioritize picking off anything on the carousel you may need that is proficient with your given comp.
It is frequent you will see 2 of your Zyra's, 2 Mundo's (another players), 2 Volibear's (another players), a level 2 Varus, and 2 level 1 Varus (Vari?) on their bench, while playing a comp not consistent at all with the digs, which in no way will be victorious (1 of each origin, for example).
Riot had to of known this would happen, and is allowing groups to have monopolies of gameplay over solo players kind of like a degenerate mob, instead of fostering an equal play environment. Their failure to account for this simplistic metric is, however, not surprising at all to me.
So, that is how the exploit is done, and for those who never seem to find their champs, and always get outpositioned (to include legend blocking) at the carousel, now you know why.
Enjoy!
