Demoting in TFT at 0lp regardless of mmr?

I don't quite understand why in tft, if you're at 0lp and lose, u automatically demote regardless of mmr. I have a gold 4 tft account that only plays with plat 2 to diamond 4 people because its a smurf and when i win, i only gain 100-120 lp. If i were to lose at 0 lp, i would demote even though the people im playing against are much higher mmr than me. Is this intended? shouldn't it be like regular rank where it's harder to demote when facing higher mmr players?

You demote at 0lp because you promote the second you hit 100lp Not demoting at 0lp would make it way too easy to climb since there are no promos.

You also won't automatically demote at 0lp if it would drop you do a lower division. I think it's 2(?) losses at 0lp to demote then. MMR in tft only affects your lp gains/losses. higher mmr = higher gains, lower losses.

there are no promos and
because there is no one to affect the outcome of your game, except you.
