I've seen Similiar. On Kongregate there's a game called Eradan Arena.

I'll just copy my review from 3 years ago:

If you're looking for ANY competitive integrity (or competitive experience in general), this is not the game to play. Stamina system play limits, Loot chest progression, The strongest cards have a small time window to unlock, Combat is RNG dependent, and just in case you DO get some strong cards for an effective team, external upgrades for cards can be acquired via... You guessed it, RNGesus loot chests. Naturally, all RNG elements (except combat) can be bypassed with real money.

But basically, RNG controls...

  • What characters you get
  • Whether or not you can get the strongest "weekend only" characters.
  • Upgrading those characters
  • Upgrading those characters beyond level
  • What order you can play characters in (though not which ones are on your team).
  • If you play survival, which ones are on your team.
  • What abilities your characters use in a round (It's literally a dice mechanic).
  • What opponents you face (Don't let the ladder fool you. At least back when I tried it, match making was hot garbage.)

Only significant difference was that, unlike TFT, the game was P2W. So everything but combat could be overcome by cold hard cash. Though with Upgrades, that doesn't matter too much either unless playing against another Whale.
