Silver cannot duo with Plat but can be matched in game?

So, Silver ranks can't duo with Plat or higher but somehow through the match making system you can be matched with plats. 3 silver 1s and 2 gold 5s vs 1 plat, 1 gold 1 and 3 gold 5. I'm not sure how this works but I'm thinking that if you lobby with a 3-4-5 man, then this may occur. This is honestly so dumb. People will probably make the argument that its a challenge and you have to just take the L but c'mon. In all honesty it should be a progressive challenge not a sudden one. This shit happens in all elos and I think its garbage and a result of the dynamic queue system.

ALSO, why is it that when I queue solo I get matched with 3-4-5man dynamic team? I understand its completely fair if both sides have a team but solo should at least be vs duos.

The system is based off of MMR and ELO. Most likely you both have the same. Even so, they could be boosted. You cant make assumptions that they are of plat skill level. Riot apparently is changing up the system next season for ranked. So dont worry, we will have some accurate representation of our skill level and cooperation skills.

There was a substantial difference in MMR though. Just by looking at each ranking, its essentially 2 plat5/gold1 vs essentially 5 silvers. Maybe I'm over exaggerating but it really shouldn't be that big of a difference.

Actually, it doesnt really go off of rank. If they have the same MMR, then you have a chance to play with you even tho your rank is lower. It balances it out of your team based off of W/L and other things in the algorithm that i dont quite know

His MMR is 1,628 (avg for his elo is 1700) while mine is 1497. Just looking at those two numbers you can already see the huge gap. I had the highest MMR on my team so just imagine the gap from the silvers.

Yea,, it goes off MMR. That guy is Plat 5 but about to demote. He has 16 LP right now, if he loses 2 more in a row he'll probably be Gold 1 and will struggle to get back into Plat since he'll gain about 50% of what he loses.
