It isn't that bad. People that got boosted to D5 often get stuck in D5 and eventually their MMR dumpsters down to mid Plat so they aren't playing with D5s any way. If you are in D5 and have D5 MMR then you don't come accross that many boosted animals but you do come accross people that give up easy. You get people that are sitting at D5 MMR and can't get to D4 MMR and give up easy because they figure the match up was pointless also.

Sounds frustrating. I've heard a simple mistake makes you lose in diamond though. The mentality is awful but with that kind of pressure I can imagine how peopple can snap like that.

It is more of the simple mistakes in late late game that are hard punished in Diamond. Like at the 40+ minute mark if someone gets caught in Bronze-Plat they might go for baron or for towers, in Diamond people usually have a good idea of how to close out games and a single pick can lead to nexus towers being taken down. You can be having an amazing game and literally have a brain fart and get caught out of position and then the enemy team forces a 5v4 and ends off that 1 mistake.

You gain 15LP and lose 20-25 regardless of MMR

Half the players are boosted

The other half are people boosting other players

Sprinkle a few scripters in there, a flamer/ragequitter every few games

and there you have D5

This is only true if you have low D5 MMR in D5. If you have high D5 MMR in D5 or D4 MMR then you gain more than you lose. The problem is that there is actually a High D5 and a Low D5. Most tiers/divisions you can pretty much say a 0LP and 75LP are the same but in D5 there is a pretty significant MMR difference between the 2.

This is true I am at Plat 1 getting 27-28 LP per game and matches i get are vs d5-d3 its all about MMR only thing i hate at low Diamonds is the fact that team comps are very important here most of my games that i lost is mainly coz the team comp just cant fair againts the opponents composition but usually everyone is same skill lvl unless someone actually tilts and lazy out playing
