What makes a Plat Mid Laner different than a Gold Mid laner?
I want to know what i should be doing that typical golds dont do as a mid lane to try and improove my skill to get to plat.

as u get higher other then burning summs or something the major difference is while in lane trades and during teamfights focusing
if your enemy is lvl 1 and they just used their spell if u dont retalliate within ur "FREE" window you missed an oppurtunity etc knowing when to fight them "item spikes/ breakpoints" when a champion hits max power spike like lvl 9 and 11 etc knowing when to all in
that all becomes more practiced and well known as well as flash timers etc predicting the enemy junglers path so therefore knowing which side they might gank from and warding preemptively etc

There is no difference at all. But, if you want to improve, you should mostly focus on your macro game in lane. Focus on trades and the enemy laners mistakes. Focus on your power spikes versus their spikes. Use every level advantage and item advantage that you get, and watch the items that they buy so you know if you have stat advantage in lane. Also watching pro players streams, ex. Bjergsen will help you greatly.
