Some Improvement Ideas to Other Maps

Hello guys,

With the recent changes to the Howling Abyss(HA) and the planed changes on 5.11 PBE cycle to Crystal Scar(CS) and Twisted Treeline(TT), I figured it is a good opportunity to give some opinions about those maps, mostly, if not totally, on aesthetic side of the maps. Before starting I would like to point out that I don't have a PBE account so what I will say about TT and CS is only limited by the knowledge I have seen from various sites.

First of all, I think that changes were good and was right at the point. All the maps lacked some visual consistency with Summoner's Rift (SR) after the big change. The minions, towers and all of the other stuff were looking ancient when compared with SR's (HA's towers are exception, they were always looking awesome). With these changes they are brought back to today's league standards and that is very good, however now they are looking too similar to SR. With same minions and same towers for TT, playing it just looks like playing another game of SR w/ some creepy mode you have downloaded from the net, like the ones that can make change the outlook of the map just for you. Although my example is not a good one bcs. of gameplay and other stuff, it kind of explains what I am trying to say. TT is too similar to SR in terms of he feeling you get from the surrounding of the map. TT is supposed to be located in Shadow Isles, the most spooky place on Runettra(don't know if spelled correctly), bcs of that TT should be the most spooky map we have. Although the surrounding of map looks spooky, the neutrals look spooky, and every other thing look spooky but the minions and towers. The old towers in TT were looking scary and was coherent with the TT itself, but now they don't feel as scary as they should be. It is same with the minions too, except the fact that they were same as this way before the changes. This incoherence with the map can be implanted on CS and HA too for some parts. For HA, the towers and everything look awesome and gives out the feeling of the map, however minions doesn't show it and CS has the same problem too.

My suggestion for solving those problems is changing the look of towers and minions little bit. I think using the SR minions as base models that wouldn't take too much time, and only TT's towers needs to be adjusted. For example,it would be cool to have minions w/ more furry clothes on HA bcs. of the cold and windy weather there, maybe more desert like minions for CS, and more spooky minions for TT. Using the base model for SR minions it would be just making skins for minions for those maps. For the tower problem in TT, it would be like the minions too. Add some spooky effects on the towers and they would be good to go. These changes would add good content to the maps and make them feel unique to the players while staying connected w/ SR.

Another improvement I want to suggest is HUD skins. We have HUD skins for special events that were featured those maps and they were awesome in many ways. My suggestion is make them permanent on those maps. I believe this can be done just w/ a hotfix and would not require any additional work in Riot's side. Bcs. we have HUD for every map on the game, it won't really need an extra work.

As conclusion, I think the changes are good and improving other maps can make those maps little bit more popular again. I still believe we need 1-2 more maps to add extra fun stuff to league, however creating a new map would take a good amount of time and improving what we have could be a better option in the short term than craving for a new one.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day
