Great discussion on GD regarding Team Builder replacing Blind Pick.

I usually tend to avoid GD nowadays, but after checking out the Red Tracker, I found a great thread on GD regarding whether or not it would be a good idea to completely replace Blind Pick with Team Builder.

Since Team Builder easily removes the whole first-to-lock-in race to play your desired champ, which usually leads to complaining/verbal abuse from the other team members, I can easily see this being a great evolution for League of Legends, especially for newer players. What do you guys think about this as a potential option?

Here is a link to the current thread on GD: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4742554

Side-note: You know what I'd LOVE to see happen with Team Builder? The option to avoid mirror matches. Since it's not possible in Draft Mode and that's usually the next step up after Blind/Team Builder, why not add it in as an option or part of the system entirely?

I don't think blind pick should be replaced because I love queuing with friends and truly filling a role, not picking one that people are looking for but actually waiting to see what's left. Maybe I'm just weird though :D

enforces meta on brand-new players

Additionally, at low levels who knows what the captain of the group will do? could ruin teams and make people just really hate the game even more to start off

I posted almost this exact question on reddit a few days ago and it got downvoted to hell. Even in the GD thread, it seems like a lot of people are sensitive to the idea.

The counter-arguments are well-constructed, but it ultimately comes down to how the community behaves. Hopefully Team Builder doesn't become plagued by some of the issues that Blind has if it one day becomes the primary mode.

As an aside, I'm amazed by how many people are still using the old forums over the new boards.
