SO, I guess riot is a little nervous about all the work they would have to do to balance urf, literally having to tweak most of the champion pool would be really tough in order for the mode to be fun. What would be a good idea to make the mode come back without much hassle..

You're right about that. Dominion is leagues too far ahead of URF to ever really compare, but isn't that to be expected? One is a thoroughly thought out and balanced mode with unique mechanics. The other is just a "Let's take SR and throw enough crazy shit to try and make it actually fun" set of sweeping mechanics with obvious but hilarious balance problems.

My point is apples and oranges, but I'll take that invite. I said on my thread where I quit/boycott that I would make a temporary return for URF if it happens. Still not making a permanent return unless they do something nice for Dominion, but that's a bigger goal.

EDIT : I read the article actually. I think it will always be a worse case of imbalance than SR. No matter how much then balance it. Unless they were to tone down the core mecanics. I don't see it as anything than a very popular (maybe 2x per year or extra long) temporary mode in it's current form. My guess is that they can take every champ and slap a cap/balance nerf on them just to keep them form the sona-win-rate.
Maybe they'll tone down the CDR across the board. That would mean the worse abuses would be less severe (stun locks) while keeping the mode's full freedom. You an still do whatever you want, but there are less godtier. Maybe they could inforce a global diminishing return on CCs. Maybe they could buff Summoners spells to keep the crazyness while toning down champions. I could see flash being closer to DotA's blink dagger (1k range + 30 sec cooldown or somethign crazy like that). Ghost turning you into a rolling rammus, Heal healing for full?
In other words, keep the crazyness, but tone down champions to a more manageable level.

That's fine, and a perfectly acceptable preference. I prefer the more casual experience in other games myself, such as playing CS:GO for Arms Race.
