Stop depreciating for inactivity

I got to diamond and now I ONLY play to avoid depreciation. I am at zero points, div 5, and have not won a single game. Because I. DON'T. WANT. TO. PLAY. RANKED. I play every game rusty, and have lost every game that I've played to avoid depreciation, though not intentionally. I try to win but I just don't care. Basically because I haven't had fun in soloque for a long time now. I only play to keep the rewards that I worked for years to get. That's about 8-10 games so far, and 32-40 teammates that had to endure me as a teammate. I play other gametypes, and spend money on the game. I do what Riot would want me to do as a customer, so why do I have to play a gametype that I don't want to?

Or you know... just keep the system the way it is. I don't care. I'll keep bringing down my teams- what are you going to do, ban me for trying to win once every few weeks? Nope, nothing can make me feel bad about playing this way so I can move forward with other parts of my life.

I just up and decided that I don't care enough about ranked to bother playing. I qualified into Gold 3. Decayed to Gold 5, and decided to stat playing again to climb back up. Between having a few games in a row with DC's on my team, and then some issues outside the game that caused me to just play poorly, my MMR tanked and I dropped back into Silver. That's when I completely gave up on trying to get even back into Gold, and decided I didn't care about the season rewards at all. Frankly, if I could opt-out of the season rewards, I'd be more than happy to, since I feel like I really didn't play this season anyhow. I'd rather appear to have played no ranked this season than have a silver border.

I wish they had changed it so you couldn't decay out of Gold sooner. I'd never have played those games while my performance was sub-par after falling back into Gold 5. Alternatively, they could give rewards for the highest you achieved in a season instead of where you end the season. That would help get rid of the anxiety over possibly dropping back a tier.

The good news for you is that the season ends on the 11th. Depending on when you played your last game, you may not have to play again, and you'll have the Diamond on lockdown.

The entire point of allowing you to drop back was to not do this, because:

  1. People would pay for Elo boosts to get the rewards and not care if they decayed later.
  2. Some players who couldn't drop out of a "V" division would get really trolly because they didn't care anymore.

Then why doesn't Riot step up and ban those players? Oh wait Riot doesn't take boosting or trolling serious enough as an offense unless its a pro player doing it, so they can make it seem like they're taking action when really they do not.

They do, but it takes time. Part of the Tribunal rework they're doing right now is to ban troublesome players faster.

And you can't exactly "ban" Elo boosters readily. The best way to get rid of them is to remove the incentives to be boosted.

Its hard to ban the boosters, but banning the players being boosted shouldn't be nearly as difficult

Similar situation here. I reached Plat 3 this season, decided I didn't want to stress over ranked any more after a losing streak brought me back to Plat 5. Ended up decaying to 0 LP and played just a game a month to avoid decaying, and still got decayed out anyway. When I tried to recover my Plat back, I ended up losing more and more (being rusty) and ended up in freaking Gold 4. I already struggle with Clinically diagnosed anxiety and depression and this made it so much worse because I really was proud of myself for reaching Plat since I was Bronze 5 last season. I am still trying to get my Plat back, but I really doubt I will. Cant wait for this season to end, I may never play this game again to avoid this crap happening ever again.
