why am i penalized for dodging in champ select because of someone trolling

i would never dodge in champ select for any other reason than because someone has picked a troll pick or is taking a lane from someone that was before them and making the game pretty much a guaranteed loss that being said why am i charged the LP that i worked my ass off for just to get out of a situation that is already a loss me dodging doesn't really effect anyone else in the game and for the most part it helps them so why am i forced to give up LP to get out of this i find it incredibly ridiculous i can understand making me wait for some time before i can q up again however taking lp and making me wait that is just retarded i shouldn't have to suffer because someone else is trying to make the ranked game a loss

You aren't penalized for "dodging because of trolls", you're penalized for dodging. There's no reason to add some kind of qualifier to it as if these are two different things, they are not.

But yeah they should personally monitor champ select in every one of the millions of games that happens every day because that's fucking brilliant and definitely worth their time.

Are you serious lol? I've been playing LoL for 5 years and have probably 10,000 matches across all of the maps. Do you look at someone's match history and determine that's the only thing they've ever played? How retarded.

And you WERE suggesting they monitor champ select, unless "I wish they would pay attention to what is actually happening and causing people to dodge in champ select" entails something different.

Actually, OP brings up a good point. There should be a way to gt rid of trolls in the game, but that is beside the point. Using retarded or gay to mean stupid is very immature. You really should think about what you say because it is offensive to some people.

as soon as you take away the dodge penalty, people will dodge any time there is a less that favorable match-up for them. There needs to be something to discourage dodging. What needs to happen is return of the tribunal and the inclusion of pre- and post-game chats in tribunal reports so the people trolling in champ select get banned for it.

people that would dodge for no reason wouldn't help the team much any way and would be doing the others a favor and i never said there wouldn't be a penalty the penalty in my opinion should be a time restriction that you wait until you can q up again and the time restriction should go up the more you dodge i just don't think forcing people to lose LP to get out of a game they can tell is about to be bad is really all the necessary

not everyone who dodges is due to trolls and theres no way to distinguish and no one gives enough fucks anyway give any loophole and incentive to leave a lobby or game and it will be abused, I guarantee it

League is a game overun by people who dont give enough fucks cuz people who give too much are absolutely powerless enjoy your stay

then make the wait time for dodging not take LP away people usually leave for something that is happening during champ select and even the people that would leave for no reason probably wouldnt have helped the team much any way thus helping everyone else out

They actually did that at one point (removed LP penalties for dodging, left in just the time penalty). You know what happened? Ranked was nearly unplayable. Everyone dodged all the time.

Didn't get "your" lane or champ? Dodge. Didn't like your captain's bans? Dodge. Enemy team got something "OP" or something that counters your champ? Dodge. It's too easy to sidestep dodge penalties by just swapping to an alt, and it's too obviously abusable to dodge bad match ups if you don't lose LP.

i can see where it would have its downfalls but maybe they could implement a system of having like one free dodge a day so that i wouldn't have the fear of losing the LP i just won in the last game due to someone being an absolute dick head

Your first dodge every 24 hours costs 5 minutes and (IIRC) 3LP. It's "cheap" already. Totally free dodges would be abused; for instance you could start a match, play it if you get your best lane/champ, and dodge otherwise. It wouldn't be hard to maintain a few accounts and just switch back and forth doing that on all of them.

that would be a little time consuming just to circumvent a system that would help more than it would hurt plus switching back and forth between accounts just to get one more daily dodge seems way ridiculous for what it does plus it would only be for ranked so all of the accounts would have to be level thirty and even then you wouldnt want to switch accounts if you wanted to move up the ladder in ranked so that would kind of negate all of that effort to get one extra dodge for a totally different account

The point is that people would dodge like crazy when there's no downside, because it's clearly advantagous if you're a specialist in certain roles/champs.

You can't really argue this -- Riot already tried removing the LP penalties and it was widely abused.

and to counter the likely "but time penalties" argument: anyone who would dodge anyway is probably willing to wait hours rather than lose LP. even 1 hour per game dodged, people will still dodge if they think they won't win. LP penalty is the best way to deter people dodging for an advantage.

I do agree something needs to be done about the jerks in champ select, but removing LP penalties isn't it.

i get it but see no downside to allowing one dodge that wont cost any LP but will still make you wait so i dont have to worry at least once, and i can see why taking away the penalty all together is a bad idea but giving a free dodge every few days or every week isnt that bad of an idea

Could they implement a voting system? If a player is trolling allow the other 4 players to vote. If a majority votes yes to kick the individual then the troll will be kicked, loose some lp and have to wait, and everyone else would just re-queue.

this seems like a much better alternative than making someone just trying to get out of a bad game lose LP and it blocks some of the abuse people could do with it because it would take the majority of the team to make it happen, this is what i would call a good comment it offers up a solution instead of trying to tell me how wrong i am

because that's putting too much power into the hands of the player. The player might be on a loss streak, and through looking up LoLKing, your team decides to kick him off. Now he loses lp for not trolling, rather he loses lp for tilting. Also, 4 man premades in normals exist, meaning they could kick someone just because they don't like him/her.

the reason there is a penalty is because if there wasn't, people could easily abuse the dodging system, wasting people's time. Let's say you're last pick and you're forced to fill, you get stuck with support or jungle and u hate those roles so you dodge. Basically, people can dodge whenever they don't get the role they desire, which would lead to a HUGE amount of dodges and a lot of wasted time.

In season 2 the amount of dodges was DISGUSTING because the penalty was laughable. Even just yesterday I went into queue and there were SIX dodges...........that is ALREADY horrible. Any more and I would just stop playing.
