Did RIOT go too far with Team Builder?

When RIOT came out with Team Builder, the original idea sounded amazing and like it would solve several problems, but did RIOT go too far with creating it?

Selecting a specific lane before entering champ select is a fantastic jump in the right direction, but going as far as selecting a specific champion for that lane made it to wear it could not be implemented into ranked or draft. If RIOT took Team Builder and cut out the rest of the selection specifics, they could use to clear up all the difficulties of ranked summoners not using pick order. RIOT could reduce the specifics down to nothing more than selecting a lane before entering champ select and it would easily become available for draft and ranked, allowing summoners to ban champions select runes and masteries, and have their perspective lanes without fighting amongst themselves over what lane they perform the best in.

Overall, Team Builder has always been a break through innovation for RIOT but they went too far.

Riot's already confirmed they're working on Team Builder Draft, in which players queue for positions and only select champs afterwards.

Personally, the shift to catering to specialists feels unpleasant, but it's evidently a popular request by the overall community.
