I doubt it would help that much. And it would be unfair to other modes. Top it off it would require investing even more into a dead mode.

Dominion has more important issues that need fixed before other things are even considered. Top problem being the massive number of bots.

Next one being that you don't actually learn how to play the map without outside guides. The scoring system is complete rubbish and doesn't actually tell you who did anything useful.

They should definitely start with rewards, then enhance the gameplay experience of the map, each node should have some unique features that make them more involved to contest or incentivized to capture. Maybe even some neutral opponents to make the map more complex.

Please dear god give us ranked Dominion... I don't care what it takes! Dominion is so much more fun and varied than SR but lacks any real rewards for playing it!

You have bigger problems with your game mode if you have to bribe people with skins in order to get them to play it.

They've been trying the "reward to get people hooked" approach on Teambuilder, giving out summoner icons and early access to the updated Summoners Rift. As soon as people have the rewards, they leave again, and everyone who prefers Teambuilder is left asking "Why are the queues so much longer now? I don't get it, why did everyone leave?". The same problem would happen with Dominion, but it would take until a month before the end of the season for you to even get anyone to join.

Dominion is a clever idea, but I think it's dead for a very specific reason that no one seems to talk about; it's impossible to balance the champions for multiple maps. Champions are conceptualized with SR in mind, and it takes more than tweaking numbers to make them interesting for dominion. Not all champs of course, but since not all champs translate well to that mode, it's always going to play second fiddle to SR.

I think dominion was conceptualized during a time when the theory for game balance was very different, and I don't think Riot will go back to it for any reason. I'll take it one step further, and say I HOPE they don't. It's isn't just because I love SR and want it to stay as healthy as possible; Dominion is also a clever idea and it deserves better than what Riot can offer it with a champion list specifically designed for another map.

It other words, Dominion can never thrive as a mode in LoL. It should be a different game. Just my opinion, of course, but there it is.
