The new Rift's 'quadrants'

"We wanted players to be able to glance at the stream, screen or screenshot and know instantly where the camera was based on the surrounding environment," says a Riot post from 4 months ago. The post then goes on to explain how each 'quadrant' of the new Rift has a different sort of theme, so that players will be able to tell where they are on the map based on the theme of that area. What the hell? Like, after you've played maybe 5 games of League you can tell exactly where you are in a split second based on the map. And even if you haven't, it's not like you'll instantly memorize which quadrant has which color scheme. I really don't understand why they did this...

Just developers with nothing better to do really.

Maybe they tried it out and realized it helped their own response times? who knows.

Not sure what they are doing. The quadrant look is meh but the over all feel now is one of a Cartoon. I am not sure this is an improvement or a step backwards. The graphics generally seem to be sub par. I am still trying to figure out how making it more cartoon like will make game play better.
