What about just making the new summoner's rift optional?

Other netbook users and I are having the problem of the new summoner's rift just not working and it doing major lag.

The old summoner's rift worked perfectly, and I really did not even want an updated summoner's rift. Isn't it possible to turn off the new features if we want to?

Did you disable your sound and follow the other steps given? Remember, the new map is still being tweaked (they just found out the sound engine was causing performance drops on lower end devices) so there's reason to think things will get better.

In the meantime, your other option is to not play against Bots and avoid Teambuilder.
