Yeah before the update I used to be at around 30-40fps. When I play team builder with the update I'm at 30fps but drop to 11 every time someone uses an ability. Both before and after the update I ran with no shadows and everything on "very low."

If you didn't get 60 fps with everything low on the old rift you really shouldn't be playing.

At least stay out of ranked.

What does it matter. You can play with 30 fps and still do as good as everyone who has 60.. But when I play and I HAVE 60 FPS -- Im dropping down to 7-11 in battles and as a jayce i cant miss -- This is not an issue of a potato or toaster.. This is an issue of the map having worse performance issues than the previous or old one. Riot even said this map would be more toaster friendly -_- Looks like it isnt.

I extensively tested the new map on the PBE...and I never had any problems...now that it is on live servers...I also have 20 to 25 fps drops and it is very choppy

It's a beta genius it's not perfected yet..which is the point of releasing a beta...to find what else to fix

ScurvyNave1 votes

Then why not make playing on the beta optional so those of us who want smooth gameplay can play on the old rift. Even better would be to keep the new map on PBE until more of the bugs are worked out. This is like selling a half-finished new product just to entice customers rather than wait a little longer, have patience and give us the complete new map free of these bugs that make enjoyable gameplay impossible.

IKR i am playing on my alien ware gaming laptop and i run the game with 40 ping and 100 fps on average on the new summoners rift, but every time i enter the jungle my fps drops from 100 to 2-3 for about 4 seconds. and when i enter a team fight it does the same :\ (not always but alot of the time)

Just so you know, the interval between different frames at 60fps is 17ms, at 30 it's 33ms, a difference of 17ms. Players tend to have a reaction time of around 250-300ms, and a ping of around 80ms. In other words, most of us are almost half a second behind on responding to what happens. Of course, being able to predict what the enemy will do helps cut into the reaction time, but... still.

The 17ms difference between having a lower framerate is isn't really a problem, even a difference of 30ms wouldn't be a problem... provided that ping isn't too high.

Hey all, the maps team is currently digging into this and we'd love your help. There's a number of potential fixes in the thread I've posted below, and we could use your help figuring out which ones work for you and which don't. If you have a chance to try some of these out and post your diagnoses in that thread it would be awesome.

Thanks so much for your help solving this!

Maybe it's because the map was just released? If you're still haven't problems in an hour, then there's a problem :C.

I'm getting lag as well now. Used to sit around 60 fps or so laning and around 35-40 in teamfights. Now I sit barely at 30 in lane and drop to like 9 in teamfights. I mean, I'm on a Core 2 Duo with a GeForce 7800 GT, so my compy is pretty old, but still, I could play before. It's essentially unplayable now.

I have to sadly say I'll be staying off of the rift until there are some huge tweaks and improvements.

It's really disheartening that Riot upgraded the map, pushing me away from playing. The old map was fine. The new one is shiny, don't get me wrong, but at the cost of fps? Not worth.

I Love this game and really enjoy playing (especially with friends), but in the current state of affairs, I can't play at all.

inb4 - upgrade potato. If I had the money for a new computer, I would buy one. also inb4 - lower your graphics settings. Yeah. Did that. Had to do that on the OLD map. If I could go to very, very low, I would.

Strange because with the new SR my all FPS problems are solved.

I am also seeing fps drops in team fights as well as an overall drop. Still higher about 6-7 average. I'm running a higer end gpu so its not affecting me much but it is certainly happening.

FREEFLACK02 votes

same thing is happening to me, my usual fps is 50-60 in the normal map but in the new map my fps drops to 5-15 every time I use a skill and around 30 fps when im standing still making gameplay extremely hard. btw everything is set to very low on mine

Thuban2 votes

I can't even run Medium Environment on the old SR unless i want less than 15 FPS. Running Very High on the new SR.

My potato takes the new SR like a champ. 50-70 FPS

BFG Nvidia 6800 GS OC 256MB stock settings. Could bump up frequencies to turn on shadows even. I freaking love it.

Still capped at 60 FPS here... computer about 3 years old.

I was told the map was supposed to be super optimized. I was sitting at 60 fps at all times pre beta rift. Now I'm sitting at 40-48 fps fluctuating pretty irregularly.

Furfrou1 votes

Went from 75fps to a spiking 5-58 fps also have the issue of random frame skipping where the minions will teleport but noone else on the map itself will so might be a technical issue and not my problem on that part I do agree riot were very finicky on their words I advise someone sue them for those statements to make a point

Try turning down your settings.

It was EXTREMELY laggy for me... my ping said I had 79 and I played an aram right before with no issues. But it felt a lot closer to like 2000 ping. i was skyping with a friend and i would see things a good 10-15 seconds after they happened sometimes and most of the time it was a 1-2 second delay. When there was no animation there was no lag, but as soon as I was fighting blue or anyone used an ability or anything like that(I was jungler luckily) then it got exceedingly laggy. I normally play with everything on medium but even switching it all to "very low" did not get rid of the problem. I also attempted to reload the client but same issue. My buddy was playing just fine and had for a couple games with no lag at all.

I attempted to spectate and a similar issue occurred where I was fine with no animation but as soon as animation started, it got laggy and I couldn't even follow any fights.

I didn't have FPS on to know what it was but I would be surprised if it was higher than 2 when any sort of extra animation was happening.

And this is why it is in open beta and not fully released xD. I'm sure it will be fixed within the next couple of days if not by tomorrow

EDIT: And O'm sure the servers are being overloaded with people playing since the new map just released

Same. have a very good rig, and although it says constant 60FPS, when 4 characters are all using abilities the game stutters. This never happened on the old rift. I play BF4 daily on max settings so I am thinking the new rift needs some optimization.

ReIated1 votes

Yeah I get like 10 fps lower then the old summoner's rift!FIX THE NEW SUMMONER'S RIFT IT'S LAGGY AS HELL

TTGOz1 votes

I have no lag problems , except the time I changed my graphics to "Medium High" where I froze for 20-30 seconds because the graphics were changing .

I don't even have the best computer , and before I changed the graphics on the new map I was running 45-50 FPS , and still am on my new settings . Not sure how or why you guys are getting lag lol , it's perfectly fine for me .

Haven't had any problems since the early days on PBE, but I haven't played it a lot on live. I never have good framerate to begin with, and it didn't lower significantly that I could tell. I have only played one game however, so I'll get back you on that.

I wonder if the higher level is too high now? Just perusing the comments briefly, it seemed like people who played on very high or high and had 60-100~fps had issues. Not sure though.

AmeNoMiKumari1 votes

mm wonder what your specs are, running on very high all settings on a athlon x2 64, and a ati 5550, steady 60 fps, as i use v synch

I had Lag spikes when I was playing sona, last night, but that was 1 out of 4 games I played, so I'm not sure if it's the map.

Something I did notice when I played Sion was that is Icon was missing. All I got was a blue box where is Icon should be.

zZed1 votes

Dafuq kind of computers are you guys using? Windows XP? I'm using a 1 year old HP Pavillion desktop (i5 processor) and have had 0 problems other then my zed/leesin q's randomly disappearing sometimes.

Edit - Haven't played today so maybe it is lagging today or something but the 2 games I played last night seemed perfectly fine besides the disappearing skill shots.

I'm having most of my issues related to sound. If I disable all sound I can play. Never had to do this before. Oh well, I guess as long as I can play.

Out of teamfights my FPS actually has increased from about 17/18 to 22ish. In teamfights however my fps goes down to about 3-5. It was never this low before.

i used to play with 20 fps now i'm up to 40, i'm satisfied

It's interesting some people are getting an improvement in performance, some haven't noticed any performance change, and a lot of people are getting a decrease in performance O_o

I just played a bot game and didn't notice any performance change for me (was locked 60 fps before and is still 60). Have any of you tried messing with the graphics settings besides turning it to minimum (going up instead of down? changing frame rate caps, etc)?

deathTouch2k1 votes

Reiterating what some have said.

2011 Macbook pro 2.8 gHZ i7 w/ 8GB DDR3 and 512mb GeForce 330M

Runs normal SR on low settings capped @ 60 fps. Consistently at 60fps, dropping to 55FPS during largest team fights

New SR on on low has about ~55FPS with no abilities being used, but will drop to 25-30 FPS when any abilities are being used in my viewing window. If the abilities cease FPS jumps back up to around 55-60FPS. Changing setting from "low" to "very low" seems to have no noticeable effect on performance.

Visually new SR is nice but there does seem to be a performance issue related to particle effects or ability inputs or something.

My fps didn't really drop (stayed at 60, with everything low), but it was a bit laggy in the beginning of the game, then it seemed to normalize. Ping went up around 30-40 more than usual, up to ~120 (east coast :c). Only one game but seemed fine.

ZaganJustice1 votes

I too suffer from frame rate drops. Not sure if the amount of content or one particular function is drawing alot of memory.

Antiquity of War1 votes

Yeah, I have to play on low detail for the new SR to be playable when I engage in team fights. It seems that the FPS goes crazy whenever I jump in a team battle with lots of skill shots.

Warlord Valar1 votes

Turning off audio seems to repair FPS drops... worked for me. I saw this solution in a board from EU a rioter there says they are already looking for a fix.

Hey guys, I just disabled all the sound on the new map, and my fps doesnt drop as it used to, could someone else confirm that disabling audio does help your fps on the new map?Singed

Idk if this is new summoner's rift, but I get ping lag when I play it. Not too bad, might just be my computer. Anyone else getting this?

Edvis1 votes
