Concerned about NuTeam Builder and Normals

(Also I wasn't really sure where to put this but a top thread here is about champ select reowrks so this seemed like the best place)

I was reading about the new Ranked teambuilder elsewhere on the internet and someone said it was also going to replace normals teambuilder. However, I was reading the Lyte thread about it and I couldn't find anything to support that assertion beyond vaguely-worded mentions of "some queues in the future." Does anyone know if it is true?

I hope it isn't true. Team builder in its current iteration is one of my favorite experiences in league. If the proposed NuTB replaces the old one, we would lose amusing and fun games (yes. Fun. Unlike ranked.) such as:

  • All Mid
  • duo top no jungler comps
  • all support comps
  • other custom comps such as ADC jungle, Fighter-* support bot lane
  • the ability to play a role you like with a champion you like over and over and over, screw wait times. (how I play)

anything off meta (how I play when I'm not playing the same champion and role)

I see a lot of posts saying Riot enforces a meta, but if NuTB is as it was described, it actually will.

Let's say you want to do something like Morgana Jungle which is something I enjoy doing in team builder. In the old team builder, captains had the option to not accept or kick you but they knew where you were going with what champion before the game started. This means that if you had a bad game, you generally speaking wouldn't be reported, because the entire team had to consent to your presence in that off-meta role prior to starting the game.

In Nuteambuilder, like blind pick, an off-meta pick will likely make your team rage at you in champion select, continue to rage at you throughout the game regardless of actual performance, and you will be reported every bad game and even some good games. This is why I largely only play team builder in normals.

Tl;dr: if Nuteambuilder replaces normals team builder, I will be super bummed and probably reported for playing what I want to play. Please tell me it doesn't?

Can't please everyone. I dislike the idea of TB in general because it shifts focus to specialists over generalists. The only real positive is that maybe TBDraft will teach people the difference between role and position.

Also, nothing I've heard about TBD prevents those full-support, custom, or off-meta comps you mention. It might actually require communicating with your team, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Plus, going full one trick pony has always been possible by just repeatedly dodging until you get what you want; TBClassic only made it slightly simpler.
