What is wrong with teambuilder?

Hi everyone, a low Gold player here with a serious dilemma that has caused me and my partner a lot of stress as of late. Teambuilder seems to be continually pairing us up with Diamonds/Platinum players (and occasionally challenger.) Each time this happens the enemy team is almost always the same way. It does seem to try to balance itself out, as if we have a diamond player they may have two platinum and the rest of my team end up being my rank or lower. Most occasions, though, it's extremely unbalanced as far as who I should be playing with goes. Sure, I like the idea of balance, but I don't want to sit there and end up with a diamond in my lane when I'm nowhere near ready to face people like that.

It would be alright if this happened 1/3 of the time or less, but it seems to be occurring almost every time. I know that Team Builder MMR takes into account normal games only, but it doesn't make any sense that the teams ranked divisions seem to be balancing themselves out if the former statement is true. All in all, I'm extremely tired of being matched up with people who are way past my skill level, leading to way too easy wins or crushing defeats. Anyone else having this issue?
