Champ Roulette Mode
Since there are a thousand gamemode ideas that ask Riot to add mechanics that the game isn't suited for already, how about one that would be pretty simple to implement?
Champ Roulette Mode - Every person in champ select votes for a champ (not voting randomly selects a champ for that summoner). Once the timer runs out for champ select, each player is given a random champ from that list. You have the freedom to select a bad champ in the hopes that the other team gets it, a good champ hoping your team gets it, or a niche champ that few people are good at.
I'll admit when I first imagined the idea I figured it'd be nice to allow the game to double dip, but I'll leave that up to the replies to agree upon or not. Double dipping would allow multiple people to share the same champ, even within the same team. Should double dipping not be implemented, the mode would then not allow people in champ select to select a champion that anyone else has already selected*.
This gamemode would take place on Summoner's Rift, allowing the less preferable champs a more dynamic level to work with as well as adding the layer of deciding which champs will take which lane? Should we send our second tank bottom lane since we have no ADC? Should we put both of our Syndras each in a solo lane, or both bot lane to abuse their synergy? Since neither team has champs that normally go mid, who should we send mid and what should they expect to lane against?
Thoughts?
*That could be abused to manipulate who is available by preventing other people from selecting a champ, but having that player switch their selection at the last second to prevent the original champ from appearing in the game
Edit: Since the announcement of Nemesis Draft, I feel like I am able to make an additional statement regarding this gamemode suggestion. In Nemesis Draft, it comes down to everyone picking a tank or support that they think isn't able to do too much and the gamemode has been described as boring because of that a few times. My Suggested mode would give people incentive still to pick an assassin or two, a mage, or a marksman, rather than the same roster of "weak" champions like Nemesis Draft incentivizes players to choose.
