Ranked Dominion

If they did add ranked dominion, they should just make all dominion ranked. That way, queue times wouldn't get too lengthy and people who want to get to higher rankings could work their way up and people who don't care(which is most people) could just be in bronze or whatever. I play a lot of dominion, and I honestly would like to see this happen just to know where I would be at in terms of rank.

I disagree with making a ranked ARAM though. ARAM is intended to be a fun/silly game mode. Having ranked would just encourage more people to make ARAM accounts, which can already ruin games. And even if people didn't make ARAM accounts or if riot made it more random by giving you all the champions in the game for ARAM, then it would just be an even sillier game mode which would lead me to personally want ranked even less.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure more people play 3v3 than dominion. Could be wrong though, but it seems like every time I queue up for 3's the queue time is significantly shorter than dominion. Not to mention, botting seems much more common in dominion which could leads to shorter queue times.

Edit: Something pretty stupid just hit me: obviously 3v3 would have shorter queue times since 4 less people are involved. Disregard the last comment. >

I'll disagree with you here, and so will the numbers.

Dominion does have a few more champions than Rift that are over-tuned to an unhealthy degree, but it has way WAY fewer champions that are just straight up bad. Dominion has WAY more champions and compositions that can not only work, but kick ass and take names. There are just a few overbearing picks that skew things. Thankfully most of the nastiest offenders (Tree, LeB, Kha, Talon, Fizz, Kass, Taric, Lulu) have eaten nerfs over the years. Sure many of them are still strong, but they're not cheese-cake exploding all over the ceiling strong.

Well, yeah, but that was a few weeks after Dominion came out. Most people were expecting Ranked Dominion to get switched on along with the start of Season 2. This, of course, never materialized.

The reason they don't implement ranked dominion is because the Queue times are already long, even for just normal blind pick.

If they implemented ranked, this would further split the dominion population into smaller groups, increasing queue times even further - providing a turn-off to further introduce people to this game mode. A big problem with start-ups in PvP games is that you can't collect a large enough population of people to actually get games STARTED, so people just give up and leave. The same issue applies to Dominion - this is why implementing ranked would be a bad idea.

If Dominion garnished more players, I would love to see a ranked queue! I have over 250 games on dominion, so I really appreciate the game mode! Its somewhat more unbalanced than SR as there are more OP and UP champions, but it still has a lot of unappreciated strategic depth!

I'm all for ranked Dominion, but lets get more people playing Dominion first ;)

Its just a Catch 22 situation.

They won't add ranked unless theres a huge and obvious interest in it. And people won't show interest unless they add something like ranked.

Unfortunately, Riot has already said that they aren't giving us Ranked (ever).

The best we can hope for are some quality of life updates. Keep bugging Riot about getting rid of Blind and Draft queue and giving us a single Blind Draft queue so we can ban annoying champions.

i dont understand why they can't add ranked queue for ARAM and dominion. they are permanent game modes just like classic.

i mean i understand they wont do it because no one wants to see short and fast paced matches in LCS but it's just for bragging rights and to see where ur dominion skills rank with everyone else that plays it.

not many ppl play Twisted Treeline yet there is ranked for that. makes no sense.

I know the answer to this one!

Riot thought that they would be able to balance the map through items and map-wide auras alone (lol). If they had just bit the bullet and applied map-specific champion balancing around the same time Priscilla's Blessing got axed they probably could have switched Ranked Dominion on along with Season 2.

At this point a relaunch would help (swap the middle point down to The Market, kthx), but I would settle for replacing Blind Pick and Draft Pick with a single Blind Draft queue.

Queue merge into blind draft, VU, and our own board would be enough for now.

Side note: Riot fails to account for the number of people who stopped playing Dominion, but would EASILY come back if they actually gave it proper love and support (and maybe ranked). I know I would.
