Okay, so recently, a thread popped up on boards regarding magma chamber, which got me thinking- why don't we have ranked 2's? This would solve so many problems of the "toxic duo" that most of us have encountered in ranked, and allow for quicker matches with faster overall improvement on early game play. in my opinion Riot should implement a ranked 2's game mode on magma chamber closely modeled after the showdown game mode two years ago. of course this idea could be completely stupid. please post your thoughts or concerns here and potentially try to get Riot to implement this! I appreciate everyone's time reading through this post!

Not a good idea currently.

Introduces yet another map that would need to be balanced. Existing maps already aren't supported well enough. Adding yet another map would stretch resources even thinner unless Riot finally decides to allocate more to alternate maps.
Very little relation to standard ranked SR. Different map, different playstyle, different meta. Would probably help early-game about as much as ARAM helps teamfighting. So, kinda, but not exactly.
Lacks a dedicated playerbase. Showdown supposedly failed in terms of maintaining a decent playerbase. Unless there's proof enough players will continue to play 2v2 ranked, the population will just die out and cripple matchmaking.

(1) and (3) are the major issues. (2)'s less of a problem with the concept, but more of a problem with the sales pitch.
